Wolf Crai needs help

Crai is a male wolf, born in 1996 on a fur-farm in Romania. He came together with Poiana, a female wolf, to the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project (CLCP) when they were only about 16 days old. It was Christoph Promberger, the Project leader and initiator who wanted to have these two wolves. I came to the project as a student in 1996 and helped to hand raise to wolves who became very tame. Because of my background knowledge in veterinary medicine and animals specific dietry requirements Christoph asked me to take responsibility for the diet of both wolf puppies to ensure their good health during the first 4 months, this is the most critical period. I became ... read more

Cycling or Mountain biking

Explore the beauty and the unicity of the villages and country side in Romania. Cycling trips or mountain biking trips on dirt/gravel roads or single paths for all difficulty levels with stops at major cultural sites.

A cycling trip

will allow you to cover a wider area, peddaling on secondary roads, admiring the locals doing their daily work out in the fields. The overnights are in different family run guesthouses or very small hotels, to get you closer to the people and their lifestyle. The routes are of medium easy / difficulty with not very steep or long hills, but over a roling landscape with a large diversity. Along the route there are several stops at fortified Saxon churches built starting with 12ve century to defend themselves against the migrating invaders from the south: turks and tartars.
mountain biking in Transylvania and Carpathians

Mountain biking

over the Carpathian Mountains and over the Transylvanian hills will open a new perspective of the area. There are very few marked trails in the forests, so the guided trips will follow cart roads, small/narrow paths, routes over the meadows covered with bloosom flowers. The stops at very nice family run gesthouses that offer good food and accommodation are a very good break allowing you to relax for the next day, around the same area on different rotes or just further to the next village. Luggage transfer is included for your convenience or peddaling light.
